Hi,
I just bought a 40gig IBM HD and for some strange reason, when I tried to boot from floppy to fdisk and format it the computer will not boot. The computer will post fine and the bios recognizes the HD, and the computer will read the floppy but then all of a sudden stop. I tried 5 different IDE cables, two different power supplies and still nothing. I know the HD works cause if I boot into win 2k from an old HD and the IBM is jumped slave the computer will boot and I can partition and format the IBM HD. I can even setup win 2k into the IBM drive. However, when I jumped it back to master the computer will do it again. So far I have RMAed the IBM drive and received a replacement but still the same thing. Has anybody else have a similar problem? Does anyone know of a workable solution to this? Thanks for your help.
