Is it going bad? It sounds like its just spinning non-stop. Not the normal searching type spinning, but just spinning like crazy. It's irritating as hell too!

As long as it's not clicking it should be fine... but backup your data just in case, it's probably not far from the end...

You can also download IBM disk utility and check if everything's alright...

I remember a time (1999) im a n00b , where an IBM deskstar was a symbol of quality, the cadillac of hard drives. Nowadays everyone i hear that uses one (and uses their computer constantly 24/7) has to RMA their IBM's . I RMA'd the exact same drive you have and got away from IBM. Is this just a design flaw or something? or maybe bad parts? all of my friends are familiar with the "IBM click of death"
