IBM 60GN Travelstar @ DELL

My first post, please don't beat me up too badly. I know others have posted the Dell peripheral discount, but I don't think anyone mentioned this drive...
Dell Home has the IBM Travelstar 60GH (Dell Part# 340-3196) for $499 minus automatic 20% discount. Add free shipping and no tax to CA and you get a 60 GB, 5400 RPM laptop drive for $399.20 delivered.
The web site calls it a Dell part, but tech support confirmed it was the IBM via a phone call this afternoon.

Spec's from Big Blue fixed link; Thanks nydoofus!

Too bad I'm not rich, a couple of these would go nicely in my new RioCar...

lol.. still to expensive for me. My 20 gig in my pavilion still suits me fine. Thanks for the deal sydlexic and welcome to the Anandtech forums!

Actaully Dell Home doesn't charge tax in most states. I don't remember though which are the ones they do charge tax in.

just the ones where they have a nexus, like texas....

5400? Are they making/using 5400rpm laptop drives now? I thought
they were still using lower rpm drives due to the heat factor...
If this drive is 5400rpm, does it run hotter than they older
4400rpm drives?

(Not that I need a 60gb drive at that price...My 20gb laptop
drive still seems pretty spacious...especially compared to the 6gb
drive it replaced!)

Yes, all the newer (larger) laptop hard drives are 5400rpm. This seems like a hot deal to me. I just wish my laptop could take hdds larger than 15gb without the need of a stupid program.
