I hope I have the information in title correct. This is 7200 rpm about three months old. In the past week the drive is running "fast" after boot for about two minutes and then it settles down and runs no obvious increase in speed. The only thing I did that "might" account for this is try out a program called "Speed Fan". This allows reducing speed of various fans and also monitoring hard drive. It is NOT installed - I only tried it. Ontrack "Smart Defender" says the drive is healthy. I believe the speed sound is the hard drive because my hardware monitor shows the CPU and case fans running at their prescribed speeds. Speed Fan has a SMART section but it only qualifies drive as ok and also heat not speed. Any thoughts appreciated.
