IBM 545 5-Piece Speaker Set $44.99

Buy.com has these speakers for 44.99. Looks like a great deal since the regular price for these are around 150. I have attempted to look for reviews on these, but can't find any. Are these speakers any good for movies, mp3's, etc? Text

Yeah i kinda wanted to know more about these speakers too. The sub kind of looks like altec lansings but can anyone confirm this? The spec (6 1/2" long throw sub) also kind of sounds like altec lansings. Nothing on the IBM webpage either. Oh well

haha I just checked altec lansing website and it's right there under the products section. But it only has a 20 watt sub.. is that kind of weak?

Right, the IBMx45 series are made by Altec Lansing..

Both the IBM345 (3-piece) and IBM545 (5-piece) have powerful, wood-enclosed subwoofers (which can set your fillings rattling, and neighbors complaining), and 5 watt satellites (a little weak, but they sound good). I've listened to the 3-piece IBM345s in both games and music -- very impressive for $30 (available 3-4 weeks ago from OfficeMax). I'd guess the 545s would be even better.

IMO, I suspect this is a solid, booming set of speakers for a great price.

These suckas *are* heavy, and the box is big. But shipping costs like that are embarassing -- especially for BC.

SOME speakers are supa-heavy. My Cambridge 6-piece was pretty light but my dad's 5-piece Altec Lansing was EXTREMELY heavy. Dunno about this though.

P. S. My speakers cost $50 to ship...that's 2nd day air...it's $27 2nd day for these suckers.

wow just checked prices on pricegrabber and this is actually a very good deal, considering lowest prices for these was 90. now, anyone have these or know how they sound?
