IBM 40gig 60GXP - Cannot format C:....WTF!?

Alright, just this morning my HD just stopped working. I couldn't boot (hell...for some reason, I got a Windows 98 boot screen when I run Windows XP...) I wouldn't doubt that I got some sort of virus or whatever.

Anyways, so I slap the CD back in and try to format my C: partition (I have two 20 gig partitions on a 40 gig drive) and the C drive appears as "damaged or unformatted" but the D drive looks fine! It even shows the correct amount of free space. So I'm like "What the hell..." and I try to format my C drive and when it finishes, I get a error screen that says "Windows was not able to format this partition."

So what the hell...what's going on? Anyone have a similar problem? If it's a hardware problem, shouldn't it affect both partitions?

...and why the hell can't I format?!

It's called Drive fitness test. First run the advanced test and if it passes use the program to wipe the MBR and then the drive

Yeah, I ran all the tests...twice. I'm gonna be taking it back to the guys that I got it from and maybe they'll hook me up with something else as a replacement...like one of those new ATA133 Maxtors.
