I would like know has anyone here ever upgraded the firmware on the 40 gig 60gxp drive. If so what exact benefits am I supposed to get from this firmware. I forget the firmware number but I know its the last one that came out. Also a friend was trying to talk me into buying another drive I've had these IBM'S now for 3 years and they are still going strong. The seek time is 8.5 which is the same on most all ide drives. Can anyone tell me what benefits I would be getting if I upgraded to a seagate or western digital. I already know that I can get 8 meg cache drives.

The flash upgrade is for the problem that were from the GXP75/60 series that caused drive failure and also it has a siliencer fot the platters. no performance increase will be found and you won't do much better by upgrading to another HD with comparible performance.
