BEWARE

there are unconfirmed reports that there are more IAMS dry foods that may not be recalled yet but have killed or sickend pets.

I have found at least one link that confirms my suspicion that IAMS DRY SENIOR FELINE in the maroon color bag may be tainted.

My cat would actually HOWL within minutes of eating it. he is now deceased.

(see "RW says" (march 23)

"real kitty food?"
It wasn't an "in the beginning, God created man and the animals. All the animals either ate each other, or ate plants. Except dogs and cats. God created lots of bags of dog and cat food too, in order to feed these two exceptional species until one day, man was smart enough to invent it himself. God never allowed dog and cat food to be seen by humans, instead, preferring to use his power of miracles to create just enough food for the dogs and cats whenever they were hungry." What do you suppose dogs and cats ate before about 1940?

"With calls coming in to our office from people stating that their animals died after eating dry foods that have not yet been recalled, PETA confirmed with the FDA that it was also receiving such complaints. When the FDA refused to confirm dry-food complaints to the media, PETA called a news conference to demand an emergency expansion of the pet-food recall to include all dry food subject to complaints"

"? April 3, 2007: Damning News From Menu Foods; FDA May Be Wrong About Cause of Pet Deaths"

"Evidence from reputable laboratories indicates that an excessive amount of vitamin D in pet food may be to blame. Vitamin D overdoses produce symptoms similar to those seen in animals who recently got sick or died after consuming only dry foods. PETA is demanding that the FDA refocus its investigation to include other likely causes instead of pandering to the pet food industry and focusing on an ingredient that is found in only a moderate number of foods."

I posted this about some other dry food before any dry foods were recalled. (Nutro in particular)
Its a tough sell to convince people that unlisted foods are still dangerous, but its semi-obvious with a little researching online. The letter we go from Nutro concerning our pets being sick was pre-made mass mail-crapola.

In reality all it takes is some searching to see that tons of peoples pets are dying because of food that isn't listed and that this is much wider spread than people think.
We're looking at 1 dog with 2 months to live, 1 with not much longer than that and another with severe kidney problems now that is only 8 but probably wont live as long as she could have.

Its pretty sick how they are delaying this bullsh!t and when you call the companies they shovel you sh!t about how the insurance will contact us and cover vet bills etc, but they don't even hint at the possibility of recall. They don't even seem concerned with what they're going to do to make sure this doesn't affect other dog owners.

I read a report that said over the next year or two there will be massive dog fatalities due to this, time will tell though.

Sh!t, this was not what I wanted to read. I feed my cat Iams dry food. I'd go buy him something else, but it seems like it's all dangerous right now. Damn weirdo picky cat won't eat much else besides cat food too.

4-5-2007 Wal-Mart dog treats join pet food recall

WASHINGTON - The recall of pet foods and treats contaminated with an industrial chemical expanded Thursday to include dog biscuits made by an Alabama company and sold by Wal-Mart under the Ol'Roy brand.

The Food and Drug Administration said the manufacturer, Sunshine Mills Inc., is recalling dog biscuits made with imported Chinese wheat gluten. Testing has revealed the wheat gluten, a protein source, was contaminated with melamine, used to make plastics and other industrial products.

Also Thursday, Menu Foods, a major manufacturer of brand- and private-label wet pet foods expanded its original recall to include a broader range of dates and varieties.

Menu Foods was the first of at least six companies to recall the now more than 100 brands of pet foods and treats made with the contaminated ingredient.

Sunshine, of Red Bay, Ala., sells pet foods and treats under its own brands as well as private labels sold by grocery, mass merchant and dollar stores, according to its Web site. The recall included some of the products made for sale under five private labels, including Ol'Roy biscuits, sold by Wal-Mart Stores Inc., and Stater Bros. large biscuits, sold by Stater Bros. Markets. It also covered a portion of Sunshine's own Nurture, Lassie and Pet Life dog biscuit brands.

The recall is one of the largest pet food recalls in history

Sunshine Mills said it would post a complete list of the recalled dog biscuits on its Web site, http://www.sunshinemills.com/.

The FDA last week blocked wheat gluten imports from the Xuzhou Anying Biologic Technology Development Co. in the eastern city of Xuzhou China, saying they contained melamine.

A Las Vegas importer, ChemNutra Inc., recalled this week all wheat gluten it had purchased from the supplier and in turn distributed to pet food manufacturers.

Xuzhou Anying has said it is investigating the claims.

The Nutro we have made our dogs sick, yes.
Nutro Small Bites, and Nutro Senior, no clue which it was, but it was one of the two.
We sent in samples to be tested, but its pretty obvious because they don't get any other foods, and it was only when they ate it that they got sick.

Nope. The difficult part is to make the food dirt cheap without it being poisonous!
