I own the Abit IC7-G Mobo which has the 875 chipset. I know that this item is for the intel 845 chipset, but can it still be used on the board? If not what else can I get? The abit chipset stock fan is just so loud for that tiny fan I need to upgrade it. Another site:

http://www.pccasegear.com/category41_1.htm

Says it works with the i875 Chipset, but when you click on more info it only says works with 845 chipset.

I also changed my stock cpu fan to the Zalman CNPS7000A-AlCu. I heard this was a great fan, can't wait to get it.

Linkified for the lazy

Hmmm Asus uses a large passive HeatSink on their boards, wouldn't this be an idea? That large Zalman will throw enough air over the northbridge to cool it aswell if fitted with a nice large Heatsink like the Asus boards.

Use one of these though. Better make sure it will work with your board first. This one needs mounting holes.

Well my motherboard definately does not have the push pin slots, so the zalman won't be able to work on my Mobo. I really want a zalman too, but the thermaltake looks like it's the only one able to fit. Should I buy the thermaltake or stick with stock or is it a problem if you don't have a northbridge cooler? Give me some options thanks for your reply.

The Zalman I bought through directron came with a thermal adhesive, for those "hole challenged" boards...works great....no fan...no noise

Hmm this information is great, is it possible that I can use the adhesive that comes with the package or is it better if i got the artic silver adhesive? Thanks for the great options.

I'd just use what comes with it. AS would probably be better, but, it's just a chip not your processor. My opinion.

Ok one last piece of concern. Will the adhesives stick the heatsink to the board permanently or will it fall off and break my $400.00 graphics card??? This is all I want to know before I spend my money on this.

The adhesive that comes with it is fine. Don't spend more more than the actual heatsink just to get the Artic Silver name, like I did. Matter of fact, if somebody was selling Lamborghini Silver adhesive that day, Im sure I would have bought it since it "has to be better".
