I am deciding on the motherboard I will use with my P3-700e. Currently it is in in my BX board running at 700, I know it can do more I have tested in my friends Apollo Pro 133A board. I am planning to sell the BX board along with a Celeron I have sitting around.. would like to know what the best motherboard option is for running the 700 at 933.
I was thinking some time ago I would just go Apollo Pro 133A but after doing some reading I'm not sure thats the best choice performance wise. I was turned off by the i815E due to the high price (which seems to have dropped a bit) and the integrated video... Well now the i815EP has come along without integrated video and a (slightly) lower price, so now maybe it is the best choice.
Or would I be better to wait a month or two for a board based on a new chipset. Doesn't look there is much coming up from Intel for some time, other than Tualatin support for i815E/P....Would waiting for Apollo Pro 266 or ALi Aladdin Pro 5 make sense? I will be using my existing PC133 SDRAM, I know the ALi chipset supports that according to Anandtech article but haven't heard anything about the VIA (whether it will support SDRAM or only DDR)
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
