I am trying to understand the memory speed requirement for i7 920.
I understand that there is a selectable 6x or 8x memory multiplier. When should I choose one over the other? And how much performance difference can we expect?
It looks like with 6x, one can run the FSB up to 200 to achieve 4GHz with just 1333Mhz memory. How would this compare with running 8x multiplier + FSB 200 + 1600Mhz RAM? Is heat a concern in the latter case?
