i7 or quad for me

i was going to buy a new computer for gaming , and i was wondering with a 260 GTX would i still be good with the quad core cpus or shud i get the i7 processors ?

with just 1 GTX260 you would probably be fine with a fast dual core for gaming tbh. you gonna be overclocking?

i probably wont be unless i decide to go sli and then tweek some things, but i just want to get a good pc now and not have to upgrade or netin for a few years

Remember, if you SLI Nvidia cards you need a Nvidia chipset (on mobo) that's unless you will use the X58 Intel chipset. But a quad core will be good for now. Just wait for the next VGA architect to come out. I probably won't upgrade to Nehalem until 6 or so months after the next ATI/AMD video card comes out.

Build it yourself to save about 50% or else buy a Dell/HP and add a video card & memory.
