i7 mobo conundrum

Howdy folks,

Am shopping for an i7 mobo, but am a bit unsure of what to do. I would like to use Windows 7 RC (up from XP) to avoid getting Vista, so had settled on this board:

GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD3R

Looks like most of the Gigabyte boards have drivers for RC, and Anandtech even recommends this board as a good midrange performance board, however the reviews at Newegg are chock full of people having issues, ranging from endless reboots to dead LAN ports to high pitch squealing to burning hot NB.

Maybe I'm placing too much on Newegg reviewers, because when I check Asus boards there's a ton of complaints as well (though maybe not as much), but from what I can tell only their higher end board has drivers for RC right now.

I'm not interested in crossfire or SLI. I just want a single card solution that works and can OC well on air.

Should I just get the above board or are others having better results elsewhere?

Thanks for your time.

I really wish the UD3R X58 board had 6 DDR3 slots for that price range. I know I would of had an i7 system up and running already :(

my i7 will just have to wait

Newegg reviewers generally have errors between keyboard and chair so don't rely too much on that. Have a look at reviews from around the web from notable websites. The Giga board will be fine, Win7 installs nearly all you need from Win update anyway and if you need specific drivers the Vista ones will do until the vendor releases official win7 drivers (all X58 drivers come from Intel mainly and not the manufacturer, ie. Giga, Asus etc).
