Now I'm onto the memory and motherboard.

The memory I think I have narrowed down to:

http://www.mushkin.com/Memory/Ridgeback/998826.aspx

6GB Mushkin Ridgeline PC3-12800
Cas & TIming: 6-8-6-24

$220 after coupon code "TWENTY"

Or

G.Skill PC3-12800 (F3-12800CL6T-6GBTD)
Cas & Timimg: 6-7-6-18

$240 but out of stock, possibly not available anymore?

Is there more memory I should be taking a look at? And why does it seem as if the tight timing/low latency 12800 memory from a year back is being replaced with 12800 memory with higher latency and higher timings?

Should I be considering PC-16000 with higher timings and latency?

Forgive my ignorance this is my first PC build ever. 🙂

What's this build for? Resolution? Re-using any parts?

Some Gaming, Photo Editing, nothing too fancy. Just want a fast but somewhat quiet desktop (dont currently have a desktop)

Probably going to wait for the Samsung PX2370 to come out in the next couple weeks.

I also think he AsRock x58 Extreme3 will be a decent buy when it's out soon.

Ordered the Mushkin 6GB 12800

Any suggestions on a motherboard? Kind of feel like waiting for the AsRock X58 Extreme3...

I don't mean to be rude, but all this money + high-end parts for "nothing too fancy"? Honestly, you're spending WAY more than you should be. AMD is coming out with 6-cores for ~$250 (or so I've been told). I would salvage everything you have right now, and save up for a build then.

If you really are intent with finishing this (which, again, I totally advise against for "some gaming, photo editing"), I would just pick something from the cheaper sets for memory (G.Skill DDR3-1600 gets my vote) and motherboard. With those needs for a computer, you will feel no difference in high-end parts and regular parts...I have a friend with the ASUS P6T V2 D and another with an EVGA SLI LE. Both run fine, and both have their i920's at 4ghz+.

Too late, already bought the Mushkin DDR3-1600 (6-8-6-24). And I'm not going to go through the trouble of sending everything back or selling everything. Thanks for your concern tho, but bang for the buck was not my top priority. Main priorities are high performance with low noise and low heat (without water cooling)

Good luck to the build then! Mushkin makes great memory 🙂. I don't know if you have considered it yet, but since you're looking for great performance, SSD's would be your last upgrade. I would definitely consider a couple in R0.

Well keeping to the theme of low noise, and great power. I went with the Powercolor 5870 PCS+

I was waiting to see how hot and loud the Fermi cards got, and they got really hot! But not too loud I guess.

Fan noise with the 5870 PCS+ below
