I've got an i7-950 with the P6X58D-E. I have 3x2GB DDR3-1600. All the BIOS settings are at default, and it puts the memory speed at 1033. I want it to run at 1600, so should I just set the DRAM frequency to DDR3-1600 or should I change it using the bclk? I realize changing the bclk will also increase the CPU speed. And do you only start increasing voltage when something won't run or is running too hot?

Seems pretty easy considering I'm not going for anything huge. But in this guide he mentions a ratio for the DRAM, an SPD. Anyone know where this is in a P6X58D-E?

I had this issue when I first put my system together and by default set the memory speed at 1066 even though it is rated for 1600. Depending on the memory that you bought, you might be able to enable X.M.P in the BIOS. This will automatically adjust the memory speed to the rated specs for the memory (including timings and voltage).

Looking at a picture of your BIOS here (http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.p...sk=view&id=533&Itemid=69&limit=1&limitstart=7), you should be able to do the following,

Benchmarkreviews.com said:
..."The 'Ai Tweaker' section of the BIOS offers a myriad of settings for the experienced overclocker. The Ai Overclock Tuner is the easiest method to achieve an instant overclock by offering four options: manual user-defined settings, automatic system optimized settings, DOCP (DRAM OC Profile) memory overclock via BCLK, or pre-set eXtreme Memory Profiles. Most experienced overclockers will choose to define their own settings using the Manual option. "...

Use the pre-set X.M.P settings and see if that resolves your issue. It is not recommended, however, you use this pre-set setting for any further type of OC'ing and should be done manually by you.

its in the ai tweaker section, you can manually adjust the divider.

you cannot set the speed to whatever you want it doent work that way. Its based on the bclock and divider.
