i7 950 + H80 temps

Idle: 40-43c
Load: 55-57c (while folding, 100% usage)

also my GTX 460 runs about 70c while folding.

These temps seem a bit high to me.

Is it possible the header isnt seated properly? or would that result in much higher temps?

Or should I replace the pre applied gunk with a different product?

IIRC Corsair uses some of the best pre-applied TIM. If idle is a tad bit high it could mean that your ambient/case temps are just as high. The load temps delta looks about right.

Not sure what my case temp is, but the mobo temp reads around 30c.

Also I switched it from a hyper 212+ air (single fan) w/ an aftermarket TIM; the temps were about 10c higher across the board.

For water cooling with an AIO, I think idle temps are a little high but load is low (this is what I believe for all AIOs)

I actually just went from a Hyper 212+ to a Zalman LQ 320. Im seeing the same thing and almost the exact same temperatures, albeit Im using an AMD 8350. My temps seem to be a little on the high side as well though.

Motherboard temp is not a good assumption. A more accurate guess is better made by knowing your local ambient temps. This is because air and water cooling will not go lower than the ambient temperature itself. Try placing the radiator fan in an intake position to suck cool outside air as it is the optimum orientation recommended by Corsair. Might not be optimal if you have GPUs that exhausts hot air through the vents causing air behind the case to be recycled as it rises.

I could probably milk a few more c from an aftermarket TIM but I came home to an 18 hour fold session with my temps at 50c, so it is probably due to case/room temperature.

Right now my temps are:

34-36c idle
49-52c full load

I think I am ok with that for a i7 950.

thats because of the holding potential in water.

You cannot base anything off of mobo temperature readings...

^ u need to give core temps... in relationship to your ambients.
Meaning ... the temperature at which the air is entering the radiator.. and the core temp values its reporting.

But looking at rough numbers... id say its working within parameters..
950 is a bloomfield @ 130W TDP.

You shouldnt be basing your numbers off Sandy-Bridge and Ivy Bridge owners which have TDP numbers almost half yours.
