I've built a few VMWare servers for our trade shows around the Lian Li PC-V352B case, Micro-ATX motherboard and i7 930/950 processors. I ordered a 970 this time around not realizing Intel actually uses a decently sized heatsink on this guy, and it wont fit into the Lian Li case.

I assume Intel shipped a larger heatsink because of the 970's increased temperatures (6 vs 4 core). Would there be any issues using an i7 930 heatsink on the 970, stock speeds/voltages of course? I could always buy a low profile Zalman, but would rather use parts I already have.

The Intel® Core™ i7-930 and Intel Core i7-970 are both 130w TDP (Thermal Design Power, basically the amount of cooling needed to keep this processor cool) and that is the reason why on our spare parts store that the HSF (heatsink/fan) for all the 1st generation Intel Core processor for socket 1366 use the same cooler from us. Here is one of the model # E29477-001 we have used on it. So the cooler that was used on a Intel Core i7-930 should work on an Intel Core i7-970 without a problem.
