i just bought an i7 920 from microcenter for $220 after tax.

now i see that tigerdirect is selling an i7 930 for $255 after tax.

i'm pricing in the cost of gas as about $10 (i live 60 miles one way from mc).

would u keep the i7 920 or go for the i7 930 given my situation?

i haven't seen enough reviews to concretely justify the extra cost and time... so i'd like to hear ur 2c

I would not get an i7 930 for $45 more, no.
$10 more perhaps.

Nope, if I bought another CPU I'd buy another 920, especially because of the price difference.

Initial samples of the 930 are not very good. Until another magical stepping like the "D0" for the 930 comes out, I would wait for reviews.

If you really wanted to you could get the 930 at Microcenter. Granted you have tax...

That said, I agree with the others. Keep the 920.

where does it say 15% cash back only see 8-10% sorry but i am interested in that deal...

no worries. go to bing.com. search for "laptop". see cashback link for tigerdirect (should say 15%).

that worked for me.

"15% Cashback On All Laptops! 100% Satisfaction! Order Now & Save!"

enjoy!

If the 920 that you bought is a D0 stepping, the switch to a 930 definitely isn't worth the added cost. If it's a C0/C1, then you may want to consider.

Given your situation, I wouldn't bother.
I've got an unopened 920 under my desk waiting for parts to come in, I drive past MC every day, and I doubt I'll bother even if they go on sale next week for $230 as rumored.

The reviews I've seen just don't justify paying more unless you're a serious overclocker determined to milk every last mhz out of a processor.
