I pulled the trigger just now and contacted Antares Digital for an i7 920 processor (they sell D0 stepping only from what I can tell). The price with shipping is the same as I would pay here in San Diego (or less, if I factor in Sales Tx) and the local vendors won't guarantee the D0 stepping!

I see there's a few different versions of Asus P6 boards. The guy at Antares recommended the P6T or the P6T deluxe for overclocking this chip. What is the benefit of the Deluxe version of this board?

I am not going to use SLI and don't need 4 PCIe slots as these boards appear to have.

I do see that there's 2 more USB ports on the Deluxe. That's not going to make me want to spend an extra 50 dollars on the board.

I really wouldn't recommend any of the P6T series for overclocking due to the power throttling issues that Asus has said they will never address. They've only released unofficial test bioses for the P6T Deluxe and P6T6 so unless you want to use unofficial bioses, stay away from Asus P6T series. Their rampage series are decent though, but expensive. If you can grab any of the gigabyte series that fits your needs, those would be much better.

I completely disagree, it is in my opinion that the p6t is the best x58 board for most users:

Just look at any review and the p6t is always %0.01-1% faster, and while thats not really that much it is the fastest mobo u can get

I tried searching for the power throttling thread but i could find it, but i do remember reading about that... I think it had to do with turbo and like something else that u can disable in the bios (and should if ur overclocking)

Basically get the cheapest mobo that has all the features u want:
