I got my chip today from a seller here on anandtech.

Trying to overclock this chip and not even pushing the processor at all.

166 BCLK 1.25 volts

OCCT for 15 minutes system shut down.

Tried 162 total of 3.4ghz... @ 1.275 volts. Seems to be passing OCCT.

Anything higher my temperature is reaching over 80C...

For stability should I be raising PLL voltage even though it's running low BCLK clocks?

Should I get rid of this processor?

My i3 does 4.3ghz with the same setup and isn't all that much slower than this processor @ this speed but I paid twice as I paid for i3.

Seller says never overclocked :\

+ It's off...

Really frustrating. Can't get over 3.4ghz.

It seems this is the max stable clock.

I've pushed 1.3 volts @ 166 BCLK and no go. OCCT linpack crashes with 15 minutes.

That and my temps are reaching 80C @ 1.3 volts.

+ Here I thought the norm overclock for i7 860 is 3.8~4ghz.

I don't buy the seller never overclocked their processor in a enthusiast forum that push overclocking to the mainstream.
Wish I could return the processor where i bought it.

I should have paid $40 more for a new i7 870 :\
