Hello, everyone.
A few days ago I bought I7-8086K. When I turned it on, CPU-Z showed as Pentium Gold G5400 !!! In BIOS too. The motherboard is a MSI B360M MORTAR. The question is where the problem the motherboard is wrong or the processor is wrong or is fake ?

Your CPU-Z version 1.81 was released in September 2017.

The i7-8086K was released in June 2018.

Try updating your CPU-Z to the latest version (1.87) and see if it still reads that way.

Yeah, do that, but...

In BIOS too.

... in BIOS too? Sounds like an ebay fake to me.

Edit: Update your mobo BIOS too.

And why are you using an 8086K CPU, in a B360M Mortar mobo? You know that a B360 won't let you overclock the (unlocked) CPU that you own, right?

When I bought the motherboard I thought to buy I7-8700, but then I think . I will change the motherboard, but now I want to know where the is a problem . BIOS updated with the latest version after seeing this, but nothing changed . They are not from ebay, they are a warranty , and I will return them.

Benchmark it with the CPU-Z benchmark tab and see if it performs like it should.

Have you run a benchmark yet? Especially a multithreaded benchmark will reveal directly if this is a 8086K or not.

Edit: a bit late :)

No way that's an 8086k. 4 Threads? Cmon. Hell I benched my 1800x @ 4 GHz with 4 threads and got an MT score of 1792.1 . There's no way an 8086k scores 1121.3 even restricted to 4 threads.

You have a Pentium.

Time to try to return it or get a refund.

There are 2 different G5400 chips, I believe.

A 2 core die 54 watt version and a cut down 4 core die 58 watt version.
