Hello people, so i just got my nh d15 installed with two fans exhausting toward the back of my case and my p95 26.6 temps were hitting 84c after a hour run of large fft at 4.6ghz at 1.25, so is this normal, people with a 212 evo reported lower temps, and i have a few suspicions :

i have two 980's and i suspect they both block airflow and cause extra heat.
i also suspect they installed it incorrectly and caused paste smearing or bubbles forming
vcore was not overvolting whatsoever
ambient temperature is hot but i dont know specifics, all i can tell you is that it is warm.
my last concern is that maybe my chip has poor IHS contact.

according to a guide, sustained core temperature of 80c or greater is too hot, and i think there is an issue here with my temps, so please help. thanks

Case?

What CPU temps idle and gaming? CPU OCd? D15 fan speeds?

With the CPU at 84C the D15 should be going flat out.

R5 is a decent size case. Even with 2 x 980s the aiflow shouldn't be too bad.

I would probably take the heatsink off, clean your cpu and reseat using quality thermal paste.

I have a 2600k oc to 4.4ghz with a D14 and a 5930k oc to 4.2ghz with auto-voltage with a D15s, both cpu goes up to the mid 80's running prime95. I don't know how these reviewer get such a low temperature either. I have checked the cpu and heat-sink surface and found no flaws.

The thermal paste application is really crucial. If you didn't do the standard pea-sized dot and then install the cooler in one motion/attempt, then that is likely the source of your overheating. It's a pain in the ass, but clean it off well and re-apply.

I have tried all methods of applying the grease many time and my result are still the same. I think I just have the luck of getting very hot cpus.

Yeah I'm not sure, I've only had stock i5s that got as hot as 90 Celsius because the thermal paste was fried to a crisp. Reapplication took it down to 70s at load.

Paste > Cooler > air circulation inside case
