Any Ideas why all the major retailers are out-of-stock on 3930K ?

Are OEMs snatching them all up ?

Possibly any, all, or none of these:

1) High demand
2) Low-yield
3) They've been turned into Xeons
4) Someone's hoarding them and waiting to sell them at higher prices

I wonder if Intel has 2nd thoughts about setting the price-point of the 3960 at +$400+, when it looks like the performance doesn't warrant it?

Maybe they are holding back the 3930's to boost sales of 3960 ...

Yields on the 3960X are probably worse than the 3930K. Also, the 3960X chips are Xeon-quality, so to make sure opportunity cost isn't significant selling it as a desktop chip, they price 'em like a Xeon.

I don't know, Intel17, I've always understood that Xeon's weren't necessarily the top-bin chips, because they are not overclocked.
