i7 2600K Please help me overclock (total newbie)

Hi There

I've got a i7 2600k processor and i'm using a Gigabyte P67A-UD7 Deluxe Motherboard. It's running at standard speed and i want to over clock it to 4GHz.

Reason for wanting to over clock it is because i've just bought a Geforce GTX 780 graphics card and i'm concerned my CPU will be a bottleneck.

Now please remember i've never overclocked before, so i'm totally new at this and have no idea of what i need to change in the Bios to achieve 4Ghz, i've been told i can easily go past this but i think 4Ghz seems more safe.

I've also got a KASA ak-ccx-4002HP Venom CPU cooler which is a beast so shouldn't overheat my CPU.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Wow that looks fairly straight forward, nice find and much appreciated.

Looks like i only need to do stage 1 to achieve 4Ghz.

I have a similar setup, and need probably to revise my "sig." GTX 780, i7-2600K (usually) @ 4.7Ghz "turbo," and a Z68 chipset. My "overclocking expertise" (if you can call it anything close to that) grew from reading OC guides for the SB-K processors on P67 motherboards.

4Ghz is a modest expectation, I would say. Truth be told, as I upgrade my system I set the clock back to stock temporarily. It's still "no slug."
