Hey guys,

So all my parts came today for my new build, excepting my third party HSF... which clearly won't arrive until at least Monday now. However, I'm really impatient to get this new computer up and running!

Is the thermal paste that comes pre-applied to the stock Intel HSF adhesive? I was thinking of putting on the stock HSF, then replacing it with the third party once it came in the mail, but I'm afraid that I might end up damaging the CPU.

Thoughts?

Just wait. You don't want to have to clean that gunk off in a couple of days.

Trust me, the wait will be worth it.

no just be sure to use some isopropyl alcohol, you might have to use something more coarse like a paper towel, just use that to get the gunk off

It's up to you whether your anxious enough to go through all that work. I would do it if I have enough time just to see how your new HSF compare to the stock.
