hi guys, my first post here. im a computer noob and im reading up on stuff for my first build, and ive got a few questions...

if my hypothetical cpu was the i5-760, and i wished to OC it, what kind of clock speeds could i achieve comfortably using the coolermaster hyper 212+ cpu cooler? nothing exact is required, just a general estimate.

i ask this because that cooler is only like 30 aud and although ive read it is a superb value cooler, i have no idea how well it will allow OCing compared to some of the more expensive ones.

if this cpu cooler is not really ideal for OCing, are there any recommendations for alternatives? is there a particular price range i should be looking at for moderate overclocking?

i dont know if this is enough information to go on, im really new to computers :X

You should be able to get 4Ghz easily with that cooler as the 760 only takes about 1.25 vcore to get there.

It's a big YMMV on your voltages and max achievable overclock. The cooler should be fine but it all depends on how much voltage your chip needs, ambient temps, and most important your case choice as airflow will play a huge part in the coolers efficiency!

ah thanks guys. i was considering the antec 300 because it has alot of good reviews and is quite cheap. i dont really care much for looks, a cheap price gives me more of a chubby than led lights ^^
