Maximum Intel® Turbo Boost Technology frequency per core - 4 core: 2.80 GHz, 3 core: 2.80 GHz, 2 core: 3.20 GHz; 1 core: 3.20 GHz

quote is from your posted link.

eg. when all 4 cores are active, max frequency is 2.8 Ghz. s0 your cpu is 100% fine.

What turbo does is OC for you when few cores are running. A way to give apps a little boost when they dont support lots of cores.

So at what point does this 2.66 GHz processor actually run at that speed?

I've never seen it!

When only 1-2 cores loaded, 3.2gHz. When 3-4 loaded, 2.8. When none loaded, 2.66

Well, technically, when no cores are loaded, it will go into a c-state mode and run at 1.2 or so. So, unless you've shut off turbo and all power saving features, I don't think you'll ever be at 2.66.

probably the problem is that you are using other cores too, or you didn't leave all frequency settings on automatic.
