The i5 is a Dell Inspiron 7559 and the A10 is a Lenovo Ideapad Y700.

Which laptop will give the best 1080p performance?

i5 6300hq + 960m
considering the 960m usually ranks between the 1024 core desktop r7 370 and the 896 core mobile m280x, the 960m will probably be faster than the 640 core r9 m380.
notebookcheck puts the 960m usually just slower than r9 m390 when comparisons are available.

http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-960M.138006.0.html

most estimates around the web place the r9 380m between the 950m and 960m

the 960m is usually comparable to a desktop 750 ti
the r9 m380 might be comparable to a 7770/r7 250x due to the 640 stream processors but could be faster due to the higher memory clocks
this should theoretically put the 960m as significantly faster than the r9 m380

Sorry bout the wait, thought someone would have handled this question long before I came around to it.

Go with the i5 model. Unlike former mobile i5 variants, the i5-6300HQ is a legit quad core model that will blow away any AMD CPU offering in the laptop space.

The GTX 960M and the R9-M380 basically trade blows, so should cancel each other out.

Get The Dell...
