First of all, if that's what they have them labeled as, then they are mis-labeled.

There is no such thing as an i7-2400. It's either an i5-2400, or an i7-2600K. i5-2500 and i5-2500K are also popular Sandy Bridge quad-core CPUs.

The i5-3470 is an Ivy Bridge quad-core, which is newer than the Sandy Bridge, but the Sandy i7 might be more powerful than the Ivy i5, especially if the Ivy is of the lower, locked-multiplier variety. However, the Ivy will take less power.

The default answer to the question of which CPU to get when asked, is either the i7-8700 or the Ryzen 7-1700.:tonguewink:

Neither Ivybridge nor Sandybridge are new. Though great CPUs, they are both fairly old. What are these systems you are looking at?

First, you should recheck your information. The 2400 is an i5 also. The model number for the i7 is 2600. Also are the prices equal? If one is in fact an i7 I would pick that one at the same price. Either should be adequate for a 1050.

2nd gen i7 would be better than 3rd gen i5 (unless it's a 3570K highly overclocked vs stock 2600), but as others have mentioned, 2400 is an i5.
