So I wrote thread about buying A8 5600K and so many peoples compalin about how bad it is, I decided to take some time before buying anything.
And I was looking now in some shop they sell i5 3350p CPU for 164€ only and I was wondering about that processor.
So First think I would like to ask it, what's that "P" in the proccessor name?
And Is this the new 3rd generation of intel processor with Ivy Bridge or something (newest one).
And how+s about overclocking that CPU?

And ofcourse some comparing to other CPUs.
Lets say to compare i5 3350p with those:
-AMD 8120 (8 cores)
-i5 2500k
-i5 3470
-i3 3220
-and my most liked A8 5600K ^^

About comparing ... the most valuable informations of comparing would be for gaming and streaming (recording gameplay or smth).

So feel free to give me some opinions :)
All, good and bad opinions are welcome, but please explain why you think it's good/bad.

The p means it has no onboard video card.

The 8120 is the older CPU so I would not even look at that.

Either get the 8320/8350 or a i5 3XXX

So you think that i5 3xxx processors are kinda the same at benchmarks?
And that i5 3350p can compare with i5 3470?

Other than speed (Mhz) and the lose of the onboard video card yea they are the same silicone.

If you don't need the video card and the Mhz is enough then yea go with it.

Well why would I use that processor graphic, if I have my own graphic card GTS 450.
I'm pretty sure I wouldn't use that CPU graphic hehe

And about MHz ... as I saw the difference is like 200MHz, so about 5%
Not such a big deal :)

If you have a Z series chipset you can raise your turbo 4 bins above stock speeds on all non-K i5's and i7's. On the 3550P you could potentially get 3.7ghz on 1 or 2 cores / 3.6ghz on 3 cores / 3.5ghz on 4 cores, and it will almost certainly do that without touching the voltage, probably even with a mild undervolt.

How much more is a K-series chip?

I'd take a 2500K over the others you listed as you can probably crank it up to 4.4ghz or so on the stock cooler.

If not overclocking the 3350P is a fine choice.

About overclocking ... had bad experienced on my E6600 because I always got blue screen even when I change from 3,06 to 3,2 ... so overclocking is something I wouldn't do much hehe

ASRock B75M-GL R2.0 LGA1155 ATX

That motherboard I was thinking to use.
So not Z series and probbably not ment for OP overclocking.
Guess 3350p would be fine for me then, also because I don't even play all those newest games :)

Only reason for new CPU is because on my E8500 I get lagg in game when I start recording it at full hd
And with 4 cores from i5 that lagg will be gone.

I find overclocking on Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge is a lot more forgiving than on older systems where FSB needed to be changed, as you don't need to play with dividers. You can pretty much set your multiplier to 42x and forget about it on most any system for a free ~33% improvement.

So you only change multiplier to x42 and that's all? No need to chnage the voltages etc. ?
This would be pretty nice hehe
But you need to unlock that multipliers or just pressing + button in bios ?

A K-series CPU is fully unlocked. All other i5's and i7's are partially unlocked - 4 bins (400mhz) above stock, which would put 3350P at 3.5-3.7ghz depending on how many cores are in use. Whether that extra 5-700mhz is worth the price of a 2500K is your call.

(I have posted this on your other thread too.)

Well I am looking for a new cpu too, from a even slower one and looking at all the possibility's and here is one way of seeing things.

1) A10 5600k is more or less as fast as a i3 (depending on the test), probably better at multitasking

2) A10 5600k does have a better gpu, in the case it your fails you will still be able to play games (not sure but probably not far as you do now, depending on how fast is your RAM)

3) A10 5600K have a bigger power consuption (not much bigger if you use a gfx card) than a i3, but it is justified if you use the gpu

4) you can either underclocking or overcloking it very easly with a modern motherboard (dont need to reboot http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_Socket_FM2/F2A85M_LE/) and have either a much better power consumption, or performance (even than a i3)

5) A10 5600k is cheaper

6) the motherboard for A10 5600K is better and will be able to get upgrades unlike the i3 (assuming AMD survives that long :), which I personally believe it will).

After this I will probably get the A10 5600k for myself too ;)
