i want to OC to 4.2mghz with a hyper 212 + and one of these boards

GA-Z68-UD3H-B3
ASROCK-Z68-EXTREME-3
ASUS-P8Z68-V-LX
ASUS-P8Z68-M-PRO

listed in order of preference

will the m pro work if not can someone give good advice?

I dont know anything about the M pro but....4.2ghz isnt that fast so, I would think any of those could reach that. I own the LX and I will say, although I havnt OC'd yet, it does not allow you to change cpu voltage individually which is kind of, derp. I am not sure about the others.

I have my GA-Z68-D2H-B3 with a 212+ at 4.1GHz with no problems, the UD3H should be no problem at 4.2GHz.

I had a Intel Branded P67 board that would go to 4.4 GHz without issue.

Point- I think pretty much any P67/Z68 board will do 4.2GHz

The ASUS LX is pretty stripped down in terms of bios options.

However 4.2 ghz is a pretty mild overclock.

The main issue I have with it is you can only change the CPU voltage using an offset mode.

I would go with one of the first two choices, probably the ASRock.
