i5 2500k Gaming Build

Hello Folks
I appreciate anyones help

I am interested in a i5-2500k p67/z68 geforce 570 SLI build that will be as future proof as possible

1. What YOUR PC will be used for.
Gaming, Internet

2. What YOUR budget is.
$700-$900.

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.

USA.

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc.

Intel over AMD (at the moment) , eVGA graphics card

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.

-If possilbe my raidmax smilodon 500w case (i know i have to upgrade PSU and i dont know if its possible).
-CD Drive
-Toshiba 7200RPM 300gb deskstar HD SATA 3gb/s
-Mouse, keyboard, possibly monitor (samsung syncmaster912n[?])

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.

Yes

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

Overclock in future

8. What resolution YOU plan on gaming with.

I really dont know, a higher one (bf3, etc..)

9. WHEN do you plan to build it?

Anytime now

10. Summary

This is what the general plan is:
i5-2500k CPU
p67/z68 motherboard Gen3 i believe
(P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 or ASrock z68 board, or...)
geforce 570 (later SLI)

I am wondering about the following:
motherboard
Ram (8-16gb)
PSU
SSD
case if nessecary
fans if nessecary

thank you very much
all the best

Is your HDD SATA? Drop it if it isn't. Your case should definitely fine though.

I would take the build from this thread, drop the HDD and case and call it good. If you want to be closer to $700 than $900, drop the SSD as well, but that will majorly decrease system responsiveness.

Yes, an SSD make a huge difference in responsiveness. The next time you go to open a program, take a look at how long it takes to open. It could be as much as 5-10 seconds for normal apps and even longer for heavy stuff like Photoshop. With an SSD, that's all instant.

hey thanks leh
im going to get mobo/cpu from microcenter and they only have asrock z68 extreme4. is that ok?
please reccomend other parts, like PSU (for 570 SLI), SSD, etc...
thank you very much

Rough math tells me that even with the Microcenter CPU/mobo, GTX 570 SLI is going to be at least $100 over your budget, possibly more like $150 after tax and shipping. When you consider that 6950 2GB CFX will be under your budget and the performance is similar to GTX 570 SLI, it doesn't make any sense to go with the GTX 570's.

The system in my sig is awesome. SSD is worth it. I am doing Intel Smart Response with mine which is the best of both worlds. Its still lightning fast for the most use apps and booting but I don't have to worry about space with the 1 TB HDD.
