Is there a big difference with a i5 2500k overclocked to 4 Ghz vs 4.5 Ghz ? I don't notice a difference.

Is it worth the difference ?

I think you answered your own question. It could make a difference in certain things, but 99% of the time it will only show up in benchmarks. Some people with minor stuttering problems in games have been able to cure it with overclocking.

There could be less incidence of slow frame times but the minimum could be staying low because of a glitch. The only way for the average person to tell is to play and see if it looks a little different.

I rather doubt that this is salient if there isn't anything of value to it.

But in troubleshooting a dual-monitor setup for 2x SLI, I discovered that you can make the CPU provide the PhysX. Some people have tried to measure any difference, and the results were ambiguous at best. Instead, the graphics cards may run cooler, and the CPU is just stretching itself a little bit -- not such a big addition to usage.

While I run my i5 2500k@4.5 the difference between even stock and the OC is not noticeable to me in real world usage. Sure does change things in benchmarks though.
