Been Lots of Used 5870's floating around the Sale Threads lately for $150 ish too

Still a beast of a card 2+ years later

+1

I've paired a ci3-2100 with a 5870 running at 900mhz. The 5870 outperforms the 6870 to begin with. When overclocked, it gives me very good framerates in the bf3 beta @1600x900, ultra settings.

I still don't think 2500k is required for 1680 rez. i3-2100 should do nicely. of course, 2500k w/ the potential to OC is great choice esp. for future proofing. alternatively, can get i3 now save the cash and upgrade to Ivy at a later day when needed.

A 2500k has nothing to do with resolution.
A 2100 @ stock = a Phenom II x4 @ 3.8.
Buying a Phenom II x4 now is a waste of money and a dead end. BD is slower and the next BD will use a new socket called FM2.

If he has a Z68 board allready, he should buy a 2500k and the fastest card he can afford.

get 2500k as base cpu no matter what. o/c or no o/c its would be best choice.

and for the gpu, you can get 6870 or whatever. can sell it down the road to upgrade.

2500k!

Does anyone actually have any evidence to show that a 6870+ intel can outgame a 6950 + amd for the same price range? Or does no one even care about facts anymore?
