Yeah, the price got up there, but the initial quote was way over $7,000. A second body shop also thought it should be totaled, even with used parts. Honestly, I would have prefered getting another Town Car, maybe a year newer. These guys do a first class job, though. If somebody else hits one of my cars, D&S will be doing the repair, no matter that they take FOREVER!

What I wanna know is: When you picked up the car and saw what a fantastic job they did, did you thank them repeatedly and apologize for going apesh!t on them??

I merely thanked them. Had a cordial conversation with the guy who first wrote up the order. Funny thing is, he was out of the picture except for asking exorbitant sums of money to paint the rest of the car. The manager was the one who had to deal with the bitching. I'd already shook his hand when I left the first time, and told him I understood it was a big job. His underling, the guy who wrote it up, is the one who said they try and get it done two weeks ago. I told them I'd recommend them in the future, truthfully. Filled out their Evaluation Card, saying the same thing.

Orney, I want to commend you in this whole ordeal. I cannot believe how nice the guy was you hit and how nice you were in return. I'm sorry that it happened, but this world needs more people like you and the guy you hit. People who arent going to start yelling and screaming and trying to milk as much cash outta the deal as possible.

Just do us a favor: STAY AWAY FROM THE TRACKERS!!!

I was driving my bro's tracker one day, since my car was smacked up ('98 Maxima). I lost control in a patch of snow, and went head on with an F250. OMG, I'm lucky to be alive... the hood and engine bay crumpled like a soda can! :Q

OMG yeah, the kid was a chip off the old block. His dad was just as nice. I gave him a few extra bucks, but I'm flippin' broke or I'd have given him more. You are so right. These people are few and far between. I was DAMN lucky in that regard!

As for me, I'm still a major pecker, my friend. ;)

You may be, but you handled yourself really well in this situation and that's commendable.

Been making a list since I got it back:
  • Hood must be slammed to close
  • Hood fit on driver's side is poor. Gap is .25" in front and drops to .125" by windshield
  • Alignment is off. Drifts right. However, I have different tires and wheels on than what were on when they aligned it.
  • Driver's window will not open, but will close. It has power both directions, but jams going down.
  • Tonight it was missing intermittently. At idle, under load, coasting, but sometimes was smooth.
I may be SOL on the alignment. My fault for swapping wheels. The window worked before the accident, albeit slower than normal when going up. It ran smooth as silk for as long as I've owned the car. Never a hiccup hot or cold... EVER! This is the first time it's had a miss, and it's pretty bad.

Needless to say, she's going back in. Kind of queer about the window. They did have the door opened up for some reason, the bill lists Items 19-22 dealing with that door. Am I out of luck because of the wheels being swapped? Should that effect the alignment?

That sucks about the car. I didn't read the entire thread but from the past experiences we've had with body repair shops, the dealership is the way to go
