Imagine a fan spinning at a constant speed with a variable blade pitch. Attached to the hub is a voice coil that works like a conventional loudspeaker. As the amplitude of the signal increases, the voice coil moves outwards and increases the pitch of the blades. As the blades' pitch is modulated with the LFE amplifier, the device can pressurize and depressurize the listening area instantly. Thus a relatively small device can move air volumes at low frequencies that would take dozens of conventional cone woofers with thousands of watts of power. It's predominately designed for frequencies below 20 Hz.
