Seriously I want to thank you guys, I took up the challenge to squat raw, totally raw. I had been working on my depth, I got with a trainer who is a Crossift guy and he help me evaluate how I was squatting. He had me work on not pushing out, putting weight on the outside of my feet. I am hitting depth now. I switched to Chuck Taylors, but he told me to try bare foot. I had been paying attention to the discussions here so today I decided maybe these young cats know something I am missing
. I never used a belt up to 225 anyway.
Now I normally work up to 405 to 425 for 4-6 reps, belt with light knee wrap. So I said I think I should be fine going to 315 to try this. So no belt, wraps, or shoes, just my socks. It felt kind weird. But I can honestly say I felt my upper back and the muscles on the outside of my hips get engaged. I banged them out pretty good. I did 275 very nicely for 8 no issues. Then I said okay, lol, let me try 315. No problems, I did 315 nicely for 5 and solid depth with no issues at all. I took a break for a few minutes and decided to do another set to 8. But on rep 6 I felt a slight tinge so I stopped since this was my first time trying this. But I felt like for the first time my upper back got involved and my lower back was no where near as sore.
It did feel strange, but I am going to work with this the next 2-3 weeks, to do two clean sets of 315 for 8-10. Now the squatting bare foot, felt good once I got going. My crossfit trainer dude was happy. I was a little scared, but I think I did good first time out. Now I am still going to gear up lol when I go into the 4's, but truthfully, I think this is going to make me better. You guys have helped an old dog learn some new tricks. Now, lol, come tomorrow morning when I roll out of bed may be an experience. But I truly felt my entire body be involved today.
Thank You
I am going to snatch some video probably next week. Good stuff dudes
