For not folding or visiting here for a while. Turns out the folding was using too much power, so we now have to turn off our computers when not using them. Kinda on a budget. Sry.

Still, I hope I am still welcome in this section and in the BBQ thread!

I may be able to start folding again later, when money is better.

"To each their own project", that's our motto around here. Don't worry if you're not working on Folding; sounds like you're working on the "Solving Global Warming" project (not to be confused with the less-proactive climateprediction.net). Of course, it has no centralized website, few good stats, and the project doesn't seem to be going very well right now...but it's very worthwhile! 🙂 And cheap, too. 😉

I'm kind of trying to work on that project and other projects at the same time. (Not an easy thing to do!) Have you tried underclocking and undervolting your PC yet? You might be surprised how much power you can save. :awe:

Lots of people have found the same as you did - about how much a PC on 24/7 costs! Many only run during winter - kind of offsets heating costs.
