So... He scared the shit out of that bear. Impressive.
I think it was more like 'yeah, i'm leaving but fuck you.'

I saw a squirrel do something similar once. It was a hot day and it was sprawled out on the the sidewalk, which I guess was still cool. I came walking along toward it. It saw me. Got up, pissed on the sidewalk and then sauntered away, obviously in no great hurry.

How was he respecting it? He got in its face in an enclosed space and basically begged it to fuck him up.

Bear knew the guy was all but pissing his shit.

The bear knew if he even touched the guy other humans might come after him and kill him.

One of the most influential behaviors among African lions right now is the avoidance of human individuals.

Too bad Cecil ended up falling to that problem.

I ripped out my patio door the other day and put plastic and about 4 feet of thin scrap plywood so the cat does not try to go outside. Getting a new one installed and had some work to do in that area to fit the new one (saving money by rebuilding frame to a standard size) I totally did not even think about bears.... My parents mentioned it yesterday "what if a bear tries to get in". I'm like "uhhh right, I never even thought of that!" I badly need to put some thicker plywood and put it on the outside. I did not want to use up a sheet that I'll probably have to cut, for something temporary, but I think I will. So I ended up putting plastic on the outside then two thin sheets of scrap on the inside.

That's all I need, a freaking bear wrecking havoc in my house LOL. My cat would maybe try to scare it away, she can be freaking vicious for an 8 pound cat with no claws, but if the bear is not scared then that's the end of that. lmao.

Bears are not really that common here so typically not something you think about, but they DO come in town. My parents' garbage bins are tipped over every day because of one that keeps hanging around their place. They're decently far in town too.

It's not worth it. That bear could have ended him in a combat round. No ball points awarded, especially if he had a family to think about.

Yeah one good swipe from that bear and it's over. That's if he simply decides to swipe, he might just jump the guy, then it's REALLY over.

I'm just thankful that bears are more scared of us than we are of them. I've seen some when alone in the woods, somewhat catch them off guard as if you are with someone else and talking they'll be long gone before you get close enough. They just kinda stare at you, then run off. I just keep walking towards them without changing my pace, to show my stance of dominance. So far it has worked. If it was to run after me I'd run towards it, you're never going to outrun a bear anyway and 99% chance I'm doomed so I may as well try to confuse it and hope it turns around. :p If you run it triggers their sense of attack and they'll for sure continue running after you.

They probably look at us like yappy dogs. Sure, we could drop kick one into next week but there's always the chance it could bite or scratch you so it's just not worth it. It's easier to leave the area.

I just have to take my shirt off, if the sun is out, it's brighter than burning magnesium and will make everything scatter for safety.

I also sun burn to death in the process, so it's kinda a suicide mission if I do that.

By the way...warn your fucking cousins to stay the fuck out of my garden.

I've killed 5 red squirrels in the past month with my rat traps. (fucking tomato-eating bastards!)

Just put a grey squirrel statue in there, they are the thugs of the squirrel world and no reds will go near. (no idea if this actually works :p)

There was a red squirrel in my neighbourhood, not sure what happened to it, been a few years since I saw the little ah heck. By the time I'd get peanuts out it was gone.

American red squirrels are not the same as European red squirrels so grey squirrels may or may not bully them.

Don't have to outrun the bear, just the person you're with.
