I left for a nearby planet and colonized it. Earth would be considered a violent, unpredictable ticking time bomb and would have to constantly be held in check. There's no telling when a major religion might take over and gain power and try to destroy my new planet, or find some other crazy reason to attack us. Human's are so susceptible to becoming irrational and violent, and they justify their actions with their temporary delusions, but the damage they cause is permanent.
Noone on earth today could guarantee that earth would remain friendly to my new planet even 20 years from now, let alone 100 or 200. Earth can't be trusted, and its not a place I would want knowing I even existed, let alone go and visit them.
Its like visiting a zoo of crazed animals. What can be accomplished? What lasting relationship can be relied on with them? None.

I agree 100%. That's why my plans for colonizing a new planet involve destroying the Earth. It's right there on my checklist, after "tip movers" and before "unpack".

Because you don't think other species would be so different? Look at other species on earth that we consider smarter than most (dolphins, apes etc). They're actually pretty violent.

Make sure you invent a cloaking device to install on your colony ship then you'll be golden.

I'm trying to see us from the perspective of ALIENS. They would live much longer and be a lot more refined, otherwise they would have destroyed themselves or still be stuck in the mud like we are.
They would see semi-intelligent earthlings with short life spans, so no lasting relationship can be established. Opinions, cultures and morality swing all over the place from generation to generation on earth. There is no consistency to speak of, so its just a bad place to visit and contacting them would just cause confusion and slow them down even more. Earth simply isn't ready.

So what you're saying is if you were on a beach in Cuba you would be standing with Erik, not Charles?

If you took other humans with you...you'd be bringing the same shit with you.

so many comparisons to immigrant sections of US cities...so many infractions to be earned...

Better do it quietly.

Before the cloak, you were just a rival tribe.

But now you're a rival tribe that can turn invisible.

Yes, that will trigger some ancient "Must kill it!" instincts.
