I owned a BP6 and a BE6-2. Both were nightmares when it came to stability. I needed advice on what was making them so unstable and I found Anandtech when I did a search in Yahoo. I had to register first and the only thing I was thinking about at the time was how much I hated Abit :)

Hopefully we can get more people to start cracking with us!

Good luck all,
JB

Abit is a nightmare, period.

JW - I own 2 BP6's and a BX6r2 and they all work fine. From what the dealers (like Russ) on the forums have discovered, Abit boards have a fairly high return rate and their return policies really stick it to the dealers (they charge $25 for a RMA). Hence their unpopularity.

I can't believe that so many Abit boards fail. Their RMA rate is so bad! I would never in my life own another Abit board, even if I were given one for free.

Hmmmm....I've had very good success with Abit as well as Soyo and, of course, Asus. FREE ? If anyone has one, or more, to get rid of I'll be glad to give them a good home! :):D I really like their SoftMenu III with the 1MHz increments; great for OC'ing!

If their failure rate is high and with a $25 RMA fee I can see why dealers would shy away from them! But, I don't have a problem finding dealers who sell them and I know system builders who wouldn't use anything else. Stange?!?

Yep, and their warranty policies invariably stipulate that after 30 days, YOU deal with the return to Abit. Too many dealers care far more about generating revenue then they do about the headaches they may pass on to their customers.

Abit boards have nine times the RMA rate of ASUS, and eight times that of Microstar. I sold over a thousand of their disasters before I wised up. I know what kind of crap they produce.

Don't forget that if you try to contact Abit about an RMA they say take it to your dealer. A lot of good that does when the dealer only gave you 30 days.

I guess I must be one of the lucky ones. I've got a pair of KA7's and a pair of KT7's that are all fine. :)

My KA7 came back to me broken, after being at Abit for over a month. They won't respond to my emails, or anything....'twas a sweet board, but there are things that are missing from them in terms of being a strong company....
