Ruins the taste if heated too much. Sesame is really a flavoring agent. Use a cooking oil with a higher smoke point, and add the sesame oil near the end. Better taste that way

Sesame oil is awesome, especially 'roasted sesame oil'! Don't know what the saturated fat is tho, possibly 1/3 to 1/2 of the total fat grams, 3 grams total per teaspoon, from a quick google.

Add a little bit of grand marnier and it will be awesome! It works great to blanch the broccoli type veggies (the hard non-spinach ones) in boiling water for a couple minutes, then throw the veggies in a sause pan into a sesame oil/grand mar. mix, and voila, awesome, tasty, and healthy (enough :))

AVOID "partially hydrogenated oils" as much as possible but regular pressed sesame oil is cool. :)

The type of sesame oil you generally get from Asian markets is bad for cooking since it can't withstand very high temperatures. It is mainly used as a condiment.

If you're concerned about fat, steam your veggies.

It's really bad, because it has strong permeating smell. Like previous post said, it is used for flavoring. You'd get the flavor with just a couple of drops.

But you can always try frying with it. Please tell us how your kitchen smells afterward.

It is not bad for you unless you drink it in large quantities.

I agree, I use olive oil in everything that I try to cook :)

thats probably part of your problem... olive oil doesn't have a very high smoke point. peanut oil is far better for things like... using high temps. (searing, deep frying, forgetting that your stove has a medium setting)

ElFenix, when I posted try I just meant that I don't cook much because I'm don't know how to cook too many things, I just stick to the basics like eggs, hamburgers & well eggs and hamburgers
