I was at a stag/bachelor party yesterday and I won this thing in the raffle. You are all familiar with my love for this delicious deli meat. All I talked about all afternoon was winning this thing and then it happened.

Do you have any recommendations for a good/fancy knife to cut this paper thin?

HOw long will this last until it spoils? 16 pounds is alot!!!!

Well... you could get about 10 lbs of truffle pate, 20 lbs of good cheese, and a case of good wine. Invite friends ---> eat, drink, be merry

no idea on the knife though... maybe get a butcher to use the spinning blade thingy to make it thin?

my.... that's a big piece of meat.

i think you have about a week to eat it after it's opened. just about like any luncheon meat.

if you slice it though it'll probably be good for only a couple of days.

Get one of those meat-slicing machines used at a deli, or have a deli or butcher slice it in their machine for you.

Time to invest in a electric deli slicer. Unless you desire to chop it into smaller chunks, then a mandolin would work.

Yummy stuff! Prosciutto with melon, prosciutto with pasta & peas, grilled prosciutto & cheese on brioche.

ummmm pics are in the OP and this was obviously an italian affair. The big prizes were a kegerator, the prosciutto and i think yankees tickets. I just wanted the meat!

No offense meant, but I don't think you are serious enough to make an investment in a nice slicer. I would take it to a butcher shop or the supermarket and just ask them to slice it for you.
