transmission is almost 99.9% dead hardly was able to move to the otherside. Which is the best organization to donate it to?(pls Tel#)

I would rebuilt or put used transmission but this sh/itty mazda transmission on 1995 mercury mystique 4cylinder, I have following other problems it needs new joint bolts or even lower control arms, transmission and engine pads, coolant is all rusty but radiator almost brand new, airbag light is on, it needs new wiring since alot of wires look like were bitten by pests. Its not worth it to invest into transmission? car has no value since on ebay like 1999 go for $800?

the IRS changed the rules for car donations this year, so you are better off just selling it for whatever you can get

IRS Officials Urge Care for Those Making a Car Donation; New Law Changes Rules at End of the Year

Next year, if the claimed value of the donated motor vehicle, boat or plane exceeds $500 and the item is sold by the charitable organization, the taxpayer is limited to the gross proceeds from the sale.

Under the new rules, the charitable organization must provide an acknowledgement to the donor within 30 days of the sale stating the amount of gross proceeds. Alternatively, if the charity significantly uses or materially improves the vehicles, the charity must certify this intended use and duration and provide an acknowledgement to the donor within 30 days of the contribution. If the charity significantly uses or materially improves the vehicle, generally, the donor may deduct the vehicle?s market value.

since the car you are talking about has limited value, you are probably still ok. just google car donations and you'll have plenty of hits to check out

Basically you used to be able to claim the Blue Book value on your taxes. Now you can only claim whatever the place gets for it when they sell it. But I'm not sure what you can claim if you donate it somewhere that isn't going to sell it but use it for teaching and such.

We always see commercials for that Rawhide Ranch thing that takes the old cars and I thnk uses them to teach kids about mechanics and such. They don't sell them so not sure how that works with the new deduction rules.

The donated vehicles are then sold at wholesale auctions to licensed auto dealers.

So I guess they do sell it but they do minor repairs and stuff on it so do you claim what they get after the fix it up? Oh well.

IT HAS CD4E MAZDA TRANSMISSION IF YOU GOOGLE YOU KNOW ITS GARBAGE

Is it an option to install a manual transmission? Mid-90's Mazda's had issues with automatic transmissions. I think swapping transmissions like that is harder than it used top be though.

Call a scrap yard or wrecker service and have them come pick it up or call your city officials and ask them how to get rid of it.

if its 50lbs by dhl ground it will be $13
if its 100lbs $48

the only thing to find cheap shop who is gonna swap it

If coolant is bad, change that on your own, it's really easy

Get a Haynes Manual from local shops like Pep Boys. Lots of these things you can fix on your own
