I wish someone would come out with a better built iPod/iPhone cable

Seriously, I've gone through 3 that have fallen apart. First the plastic around the USB connector comes off, then slowly the USB connector deteriorates and Apple charges 20 bucks to replace the damn things (what a rip! $9.99 would be more tolerable) And my stupid iPhone headphones fell apart, 29.99 if I want to replace those!

I love every apple product I own but sometimes I feel they are ripping me a new butt.

Never had an issue with the USB cable, but I replace my iPhone headphones almost immediately.

ipod/iphone earphones are terrible so don't bother replacing those with apple ones unless you are getting the expensive ones.

I never had a problem with my charger. Maybe you should look into a dock/cradle for your iphone?

I bought 4 retractable ones and keep them everywhere just in case I need to charge

I like the Apple earbuds aside from the fragility, but I wouldn't want to pay $30 to replace something that is so likely to get damaged. Are there any other headphones/earbuds made by a third party that have the built-in mic AND the button to control music playback?

I've had the SAME exact issues with my cables. Breaking of the plastic sheath at the base of the USB side. :/

I got the Zagg zBuds (same company as invisible shield) and they are pretty nice except for their inline volume control SUCKS. After a bit of cutting and soldering I bypassed their POS Pot and now enjoy their headphones very much. I got them for about $50 though, so more $$ than replacing the Apple ones.

For the record, Apple replaces broken earbuds and iPod cables at the Apple store for free.

The broken power cables on Apple's stuff is one of my pet peeves with them. The one on my iPhone has already started to go and it's less than a year old. I grumble, then I dig out the electrical tape. I didn't know you could take them to the Apple Store though for a free replacement. Still, driving 30 miles to go pick them up I'd probably use up as much in gas as it would cost to just buy them from Monoprice.

yep. my friend and i went to the apple store a few months ago with her 5th gen 60GB ipod, because her earbuds broke. they gave her a new pair of the newest version of them for free, no questions asked!

Slightly off topic .. but that's why I love my Apple products so much and I don't mind paying a little extra for them .. the customer service for the most part is top notch. I've had my Iphone replaced twice .. once for a hairline crack in the case, another time the camera had a redish tint to it .. both times I walked in with an appt and I was out 10min later .. no questions asked. My wife's ipod touch stopped responding on the touch screen .. replaced no problem. Quite honestly, Apple customer service and replacement has been some of the best I've had the pleasure of dealing with .. and that's one of the primary reasons I keep going back and buying Apple. I know I'm taken care of in the event something goes wrong .. you're mileage may vary ...
