I wish I liked mornings more

Needed to get to work at 6:45am today and it really makes me wish I liked mornings more. No traffic and nice and quiet in the office. I could move my shift up if I wanted but there are two negatives associated with that:
1) Mornings suck. Like really suck. I'm grouchy and irritable most days before 8am regardless of what time I go to bed
2) I'd have to see my wife more in the mornings and she is a total morning person. Bright, cheery, wants to talk and wants all the lights on while I'd prefer to sulk in darkness while I get ready for the day

I'm a bit of a morning person but mostly because i like the house quiet when i get up. I'm not cheery or happy or smiley or even want to talk, but I like a nice quiet house to do my thing in. I'm up at 6 AM most days, mornings I work out is earlier than that. At my desk at work by 8. I could easily compress that and be at my desk at 7 or not get up until 7, but that defeats the purpose of enjoying a morning that works for you.

Should note i dont have kids and my wife is a grad student right now and sleeps til 8ish most mornings. Most weekends I'm up before 8 too. Gotta start the day right!

The highways are just as clear at 10am, and I'd much rather start two hours later than two hours earlier.

When my son was born I started going to work around 6am and leaving around 2pm. Now I just wish I was on this schedule before. It is SSSSSSOOOOOOO much better. I miss all traffic and crowds. I go to the gym right after work and there are like 5 people in the gym. I get home by 4pm and there is still daylight even on December 22nd.

I'm totally used to it now and love it. It also makes getting up at 5:30 in the warm months to go fishing that much easier because I am used to getting up super early. I used to be such a night owl too until my son was born. When he started waking up around 6am and waking us up too, I figured I might as well just go to work and that is how my current schedule started.

It also makes me get up earlier on my off days too which make the days feel longer now too. I love going to the stores at like 8 or 9am on the weekends when I have to get stuff because they are empty.

I hate mornings, my favorite work schedule was when I used to work from noon to 1030pm 4 days per week, or when I used to work overnights 6pm to 530am 7 on 7 off rotating schedule...

For the last 10ish years though, I've worked 9-5 or 9-6 or 9-7 type hours ...
I tried doing the whole 630 thing, and yes, the traffic was a lot lighter, so it saved like 20-30 mins of commute .. but .. I more or less could never adjust to that kind of sleep schedule or survive it. I have much difficulty with 9am but I am able to manage it.

Never used to be a morning person but slowly moved that way. Now I'm regularly up at 4:30 to go exercise and out the door by 6:45 most week days for work. Beat traffic and just get a jump on the day.

I think I could get used to early mornings but only if I had a regular schedule. Otherwise the weekends mess it all up and then it's better to get up at 9 every day.

As I get older I'm becoming more morning person. I used to hate it when I had to get up early for work. Now I don't have to and yet I still do. Maybe it was just work I hated.

you waste daylight though. it's terrible in the summer.
I dislike daylight.
The sun is too bright and hurts my eyes.
Give me darkness and night! I love winter because of the long nights.
I hate the short nights of the summer.

Oh man, me too. You can get so much more done by getting up early. But I have a fuck of a time getting up at 8 am for work M-F and it really isn't based solely upon lack of sleep (which is part of the problem though) because I have just as much trouble getting up on the weekends after 12 hours of sleep. I just like sleep way too much and don't wanna get out of bed.

Mornings are awesome. I get up at 4 head to the gym on empty streets with blinking lights, barely anyone there so I can do whatever I want without interruption including reserve a sauna. After, I can go grab some groceries in an empty store if needed then get home and the kid isn't even awake yet. Tool around on the internet for another hour and make an appropriate breakfast. Spend my last hour getting ready for work and getting my son out the door. Plenty of time.

I hear ya. My biological clock is set to wake up around 8am...not be at work at 8am. Never been able to change it.

I'm the same way, I wish I would like getting up early, but it just KILLs me. Once I'm up, and showered, it's not so bad, but it's the initial act of getting up that just takes every ounce of energy out of me. In some cases I'll be tired all day from it too. Just not a morning person.

If I need to be somewhere for 5am, I am better off staying up, provided that I can sleep some time that day. Like any kind of travel where I need to be to a bus station or airport etc super early, I just stay up, then sleep on the plane/bus.

That said I work shifts, so when I'm on 12 hour day shifts I need to be at work for 6:45 so that means getting up at least at 6am. That's always super brutal, but just have to deal with it. In summer it's not as bad since the sun will be out though. I find night shifts easier than day shifts. For night shift I need to be there at 6:45PM instead of AM. Technically start at 7 but try to be there earlier to do cross shift as the other person is finishing at 7.

I love my mornings but I'm all over the place. I work for myself generally don't schedule anything before 9am but a lot of it is vacant houses or rentals I have keys to where I can go whenever. I almost never set an alarm, some mornings I'm up at 4:30 ready to go, other times like currently I don't manage to get up til 8 am. Generally it tends to go by what I'm working on, big project with a deadline I can't sleep and get up early sometimes too early like 3am. A lot of times I'm wide awake at 5 - 6am. Times like now works slow and for some reason so am I 8am has been a common theme for the last couple weeks. No matter what time I get up I like chilling out drinking coffee, making a nice breakfast, answer emails, pay bills and so on almost never ready to go to work unless I've been up 2 hours or so. Lifes good.

I get up early usually around 5 but I sure as hell don't rush to work. I actually go in late to avoid traffic, around 9am.

I spend my mornings drinking coffee and reading. The way god intended it to be!

Love morning. It's dark and quiet. In the summer, you can enjoy the air before the stench of heat pollutes it. I'm up at 5 on weekdays, and usually the same on weekends, but definitely no later than 6.

I like mornings, but I have a hard time waking up for them. My body wants to be on a 36 hour schedule and trying to force it to 24 usually means I want to sleep in.

I try not to get up before 10am. And usually it's possible. I'm a realtor and also a real estate photographer. Usually I'll schedule my first photoshoot at 11am and I still have time to fit in 4 more if necessary, depending upon time of year and when the sun sets. Even weekends most buyers don't request their first showing until after 10am, so that works out. As I build my businesses that will probably change a bit, having to cram in more appointments. But can still get a lot of work done on my current schedule.

I hate mornings.

I'm mostly nocturnal and like very early morning (3 AM aka the witching hour) to early morning, but don't like mid to late morning (before noon). Even when I was on normal day schedule I wasn't fond of 10 AM. That time is only good if you are having brunch.

I looooooove mornings!

I wake up at 4am. I have my morning routine: meditation, read for 15m, the gym, set up my day via Google calendar, and I work on my most important task. By then, it's a nutribullet, quick shower, prep my lunch and then work.

I get to bed by 9pm. I don't do news. I don't check email. No forums in the morning.
