UGGHHH!!!! I HATE THAT CRAP!!!
The guy is playing 4 or 5 notes, and the "multinote effect" is fattening them up. He's then looping it and playing 3 chords on top of it, and then adding synthesized drums. That's how 90% of music is made today and it's sickening.
The OP said "I wish I could do that.." and you can in about 2 hours of reading some MIDI board manuals.
So true. Lets not even get started on the autotune dance club crap.
Say what you will about autotune but imagine what Katy and Ke$ha would sound like w/o it.![]()
All the criticism of electronic music styles is misplaced and would only make sense if this were a link to a normal pre-recorded electronic album track made with studio equipment. It's the real-time manipulation and composition that he wishes he could do.
So they'd sound flat instead of like shrill harpies that make my ears bleed. I'll take the former any day of the week.
How autotune is used "artistically" just adds an elongated shrill trailing edge that there's no fucking reason for them to put in there as it only makes it sound worse.
Its not like I have dog's ears either, so I have no idea how high school kids and tweens (or whatever the fuck they're called) can listen to music that has all of these harsh higher frequency effects, especially on systems where the bass distorts like hell (or is relatively nonexistent like with crappy earbuds) and the highs are even worse than normal.
