I wish I could spend 6-8 months in a warm/tropical climate in the fall - winter - spring and then somewhere with a mild-climate in the summers.

Most of the places I'd want to live, keeping my salary would actually hurt me.

Portland, Maine. Very nice place, and if I could keep my DC area salary with their much lower cost of living it would be awesome.

Sweden. There's something cool about Sweden. Or any of the three Scandinavian countries. Or maybe some little village in South France. I'd love to head back there at least one more time. sigh.

Colorado maybe, I would love to live in the mountains. I don't know that I could handle the cold though. I'm close enough right now to spend a weekend there without much trouble. 3-4 day weekends can make for a good adventure, if planned right.

Switzerland's stunning. I have a travel book from there, and I love looking at the pictures. Unfortunately, I've never been :^(

My mother's family is from Switzerland. It's a lovely place, but there are two big drawbacks. The place is EXPENSIVE! Cost of living is insane. Also, if you aren't high up then winters suck. Think several months of gray weather.

It is stunning. My company has one of its big offices there on Lake Constance and I've considered trying to get transferred there several times. The country is beautiful..but as you said, sooooo expensive. If the opportunity presents itself I still would consider it, but I've realized that I'd rather live in the Western US.
