I won my trial yesterday! Yay me!

One of the co-defendants got hit for $236,100 plus interest AND attorney fees. Ouch.

MotionMan, Esq.

EDIT:

It was a dispute regarding the sale of a single family home. Plaintiff alleged that the easement in front and the property line in the back were not properly disclosed.

The seller (not my client) and seller's agent/broker (my clients) defensed it. Buyer's agent/broker (not my clients) got nailed.

As a defense attorney, I do not get a cut of the winnings. :(

EDIT 2

If everything goes right post-trial, Plaintiff will owe us a little over $12,000.

That is what you get for turning down an offer on a worthless case.

Good for you and your client. Is the defendant covered by insurance or will this come out of his pocket?

excellent. I won a hearing on a motion to dismiss today. Ok, I attended the hearing and it was a motion of a co-defendant that my client had nothing to do with. But dammit I looked good.

i got a settlement for my client after pointing out that the opposing attorney had no idea how to do math at all. his figures were off by an order of magnitude.

Do you use Wordperfect? If so, why? It seems like lawyers are the only reason that software exists, except they use a version that's 20 years old, so no one is making money off of them :^/

We do use WP. I was at a firm that used Word a long time ago. WP is dying out in my field, but oh so slowly.

How much of the attorney fees do you usually collect? (% wise)

so the seller and sellers agent did disclose the easement to the buyer's agent? and the buyers agent kept quiet?

What about the title company? wouldnt they have disclosed the easement?

-AND-

wow.. losers are paying 100% of your fees?!
normally, isnt it 'reasonable' attorney fees whenever someone is ordered to pay the opposing lawyer fees?

and what the court thinks is reasonable and what you really charge are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off?

It is not our fees. It is our costs.
