Hi All, As you all suggested I got the I-will 266k and Tbird 1.2 Ghz
However when I first ran them my PC was running at 900mhz.
Some of you said that it's cause of the bus being set to 100mhz by default and that I should set it to 133 to get my full 1.2ghz.

I went into BIOS and in one of the menus it said CPU clock and it was running at 100, so I changed that value to 132mhz (that's the Maximum I could get).
I touched nothing else everything else is default.

Now, ever since I did that my PC keeps freezing as soon as I restart the computer./
it starts a little finds the IDE drives then stops, or sometimes it'll go a little further and freeze. I dont know why this happens. I am running the PC along with a 128 and a 256 RAM chpi both PC133.

I have been desperatly trying to get into the BIOS to change the bus speed back to what it originally was, at least for the time being, but I cant even do that.
it rarely gets as far as the BIOS at restart, and when I do succeed and get in, the PC freezes instantly before I get the chance to reset BIOS to default.

What would you suggest I do to solve the problem?
Why is it freezing anyway?
And how can I reset the BIOS to default? Is there any manual/hardware way of doing it?

Please help

Thanks.

somethings not right here, FSB choices on that board go to the moon.

are you sure you are looking in the right spot? also, you may have to scroll by hitting the down or up arrow to get the other choices. just how familiar are you with bios's in general???

there may be a jumper on the board that has to be changed to get all this to work, I know my KA266 has one, I don't feel like reading your manual right now.

you can reset the bios to defaults by clearing via jumper or pulling the power plug and the battery for maybe ten minutes, then start over again.

reread the manual, most of this stuff can be figured out with a thorough reading or two.

hope this helps.

There is a jumper next to the CPU socket to select the 100/133 FSB. Look on page 6 of the manual.

The jumper decides the pci divider (1/3 or 1/4) if you didn't use the jumper you're running the pci slots way out of spec at 132/3 instead of 133/4.

You might have to reset the cmos. (page 5)

I did the exact same thing and mine won't even post.

Hope this helps. I love my kk266 ( hasn't crashed on me yet on Win2k in a month)

Echo of Jchu14... I have the same rig. You have to set the jumper to 133, AFTER the first boot at 100. I jumped right into an extreme OC situation (dumb) and had the thing where it wouldn't even POST, wouldn't show anyting at all. Somehow I jogged the power connection from the PS to the mobo and it wouldn't do anything. I thought I'd fried the mobo. Luckily I checkd that connection, then cleared the CMOS, and started over with the jumper at 100, shut down, set it to 133, rebooted, went into BIOS and tweaked from there. Now I'm stable at 1350 (9.5 x 142), though I wish it would go higher AND be stable (w/Prime95) at the same time. Good luck!
